Enviromental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability is ensuring the care, well-being and safety of our planet.  What we do now will affect future generations.  Turning off taps when brushing your teeth, turning the lights off at night and walking to the shops instead of driving, can make a big change to maintaining a healthy planet that we can be proud to live on!

Canterbury Christ Church University is doing a lot to help our environment that many people don’t even know exists, find out more via the link below:

Environmental sustainability is a diverse and dynamic subject examining the interaction between people and their surroundings. Global warming, biodiversity and renewable energy are just a few of the recurring themes we hear on the news.

Some of the common environmental concerns include:

  • damaging rainforests and woodlands

  • polluting and over-fishing of oceans, rivers and lakes

  • polluting the atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels

  • damaging prime agricultural and cultivated land through the use of unsustainable farming practices

Ways in which you can help is:

  • Recycling, using recycled papers will help reduce the amount of trees we use for paper resources

  • Walking to shops, school, and university or taking public transport. Can help reduce emission caused by cars

  • Purchasing Fairtrade products, that follow sustainable practices

  • Turning off water taps when brushing teeth or not in use.

  • Switching the lights off when you’re not in the room and before you go to bed.
